The start of the new year has been exciting at Arxxus! The company came together as a team and we did our first V2MOM exercise.
For those who are not familiar with V2MOM - this is a really elegant organisation planning/vision/strategy tool that Marc Benioff from salesforce.com uses in his company. It has now been adopted by a few companies. The 2 Vs stand for Vision and Values and MOM stands for Methods, Obstacles and Measures.

We felt the need to involve the entire company in a structured manner to map out the course for our next 12-18 months. In previous years, we were getting input from senior leaders and some of our key employees during our planning process which culminated in our company offsite in Sydney. This year we wanted to involve the entire company. Speaking to Zia (who acts as our Strategic HR soundboard) it was quickly evident that we did not need to look elsewhere but borrow best practice from Marc and Salesforce.
Here is how we conducted the exercise
1. Craft the Company Level V2MOM
The first step we did was to have a company level V2MOM defined. We involved our senior leadership team at Arxxus for the first step which also included our Internal Partner Services leadership team. I am happy to share the vision that the team came up with and as founders, we would not have been able to articulate this any better!
"As a team of Salesforce Experts, we will enable continuous customer success, increase market share by constant innovation and build a great work environment"
2. Get the Business Unit level V2MOM
The Business Unit leaders and their teams then conducted their own V2MOM workshops. The business units V2MOM was also closely aligned with the company level V2MOM. This was a great exercise and it gave every person in the business units the opportunity to express their ideas and feedback. It also made everyone a key part of the company's future path.
3. Do the company offsite!
This is an absolute must, the offsite was planned in such a manner that it meshed the V2MOMs together and let each team discover the interdependencies. It also gave us an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far as a company and give that perspective to some of the newer team members. Kudos to Zia Alam, our HR team (Swapna and Smitha) for crafting a fun filled offsite in Pune and our entire team for their fantastic participation and enthusiasm!
